The ‘Full Length Film Grant Committee’ has been reconstituted as part of the process of selecting films for government grants.
Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This committee has been reconstituted with a total of 10 members under the chairmanship of Nahid Islam.
Today, Monday, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information. This information was given in a notification signed by Saiful Islam.
The Additional Secretary (Films) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is the member secretary of the committee.
The other members of the committee are the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), the teacher and actor-director of the Department of Theater and Performance Studies of Dhaka University. Abul Bashar Md. Ziaul Haque (Titas Zia),Filmmaker and Producer Khan Sharfuddin Mohammad Akram (Akram Khan), Filmmaker and Screenwriter Nargis Akhtar, President of Rainbow Film Society Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal, Producer and Editor Sameer Ahmed, Actress Zakia Bari Mom.
The notification states, Government grants for the production of ‘full-length’ films to encourage talent and creativity in the film industry and to provide government support and assistance to the production of full-length films with a view to upholding the contemporary culture of Bangladesh.The Government reconstituted the ‘Full-length Film Grants Committee’ to examine and decide on the package proposals received for disbursing government grants in the financial year 2024-25 as per Policy-2020 (Revised)’.
